Workshops

I deliver creative craft based workshops to a wide range of audiences: From galleries and art fairs to Libraries, placemaking and community events, my workshops engage participants in creative activities and spark conversation .

Print Workshops

My hands-on printing workshop is an interactive craft experience where participants create their own print from start to finish. Through this workshop participants explore the creative skills of observation and drawing as well as learning how to transfer their drawings to a print block and make different marks that work well in print. I demonstrate how to print their blocks and assist them in doing this process for themselves. Participants experience a new craft skill and have a physical art piece which they have created themselves to take away. The versatile nature of printmaking gives the option of re-printing the block to create a communal piece of artwork as a legacy piece for the workshop.

Exploring a theme with print

My workshops are highly adaptable and can be tailored to different themes.  I have frequently used this workshop as a way to engage people with the surrounding environment; linked to my artistic practice, which focuses on architecture and cities where participants can explore and discuss their feelings about a place and what they would like to see in future.

An example of this is the family workshops I ran for Cockpit studios engaging the community with a historic mural on the building as part of a consultation for its redevelopment. Children of all ages and their families made drawings outside the building of the mural and surrounding area and then we created the prints in the workshop space.

Using a theme proven to be a great starting point for conversation and creativity and this workshop is highly adaptable to different themes tailored to the exhibition or venue.

Accessibility

The print techniques I use in my workshops are accessible to participants of different age-groups and needs. I have experience facilitating workshops for both children and adults; everyone is able to take part in the activity. These can include drop-in sessions to the public for example at art fairs and exhibitions where participants could be of any age or experience.  Other workshops types include booked group sessions, where participants can spend longer on a particular project. I can structure sessions to suit the needs of attendees for example the workshop I delivered for charity Arts4Dementia in where I adjusted to the delivery style and workshops structure to better suit to those with early stage dementia.

“I have worked with Kethi a number of times for a variety of audiences ranging from children, the general public and the elderly. Kethi’s print workshops are a great fit for all audiences and themes because they are accessible, easy to follow and adaptable.
We’ve worked on community consultation, craft for mental health, large projects and many more. Every workshop I’ve asked Kethi to deliver has been greatly appreciated by all.”

- Maxine from Cockpit Studios

“Kethi delivered one of our Art of Craft sessions in November 2022. The programme was in collaboration with Cockpit makers and Arts 4 Dementia. The block printing session was a huge hit with our participants who live with early-stage dementia. The participants were able to draw inspiration from their own found objects which they brought to the session, having been set homework allowing them to engage with the project at home. The session was appropriately timed allowing people enough time to design, etch and print. The outcome exceeded all of our participant's expectations and left everyone on a real high, the hour flew by!'”

- Emily from Arts 4 Dementia

“We worked with Kethi at a creative placemaking event wanting to initiate conversations with the local community around the public realm. Kethi created a very engaging workshop whereby participants had the opportunity to reflect, create, open conversations and take something home with them. Everyone loved it and we had exactly all the outcomes we were looking for. Plus her work is beautiful and has been a pleasure working with her!”

Case Studies

Lewisham Borough of Culture

I delivered 2 creative challenge workshops as part of Lewisham Borough of Culture. Each month of the year long events programme was themed. I participated in craft Month bringing craft based workshops to the Lewisham community.

At Forest Hill Library I delivered a structured workshop session for a small group of 8 participants to learn block printing techniques, and spend time drawing and considering their designs, on the theme of their favourite places in Lewisham and producing multiple designs.

The second workshop was a fast paced drop-in session during the Borough of Culture closing event at Beckenham Place Park. It was attended by many different age groups but with children in the majority the prints reflected on the event and were also inspired by the Christmas season when they took place.

For both sessions participants could choose to donate their prints and blocks to form part of a legacy exhibition and installation at Forest Hill library in January.

Reimagining 55 Old broad Street

I facilitated a drop-in workshop at a community engagement event for AND London for the area of 55 Old Broad Street in the city of London.

I created a tailored workshop to help people to think about the local area, participants imagined what they would like to see in the city through a drawing activity, creating cards which they could take away with them. Within the workshop, there was plenty of opportunity for reflection on the themes and open conversations with the attendees, providing the community engagement that the organisers desired. The feedback I received from the organisers was that “Everyone loved it and we had exactly all the outcomes we were looking for” .
